What Junior Golf
is and how to sign up |

Dear Parents and Junior Golfers, |
|
Welcome to the 2007 Tyrone hills Junior Golf
Program! The opening day of league play this
season is Thursday, June 28th. Play will
continue on Thursday mornings until the
league raps up on Tournament Day - Thursday,
August 2nd. Last year nearly 300 juniors
participated in the program. It was a fun
and memorable season for not only the
juniors, but for our staff at Tyrone Hills,
and the parents and Volunteers that helped
make the program so successful. We are
expecting another great season of play this
summer.

The Junior Golf Program is divided into
three divisions: The 3 Hole Division is
recommended for juniors aged 8 - 10. The 6
Hole Division is for 11 - 13 year olds, and
the 9 Hold Division is for juniors 13 and
older. A junior may request to participate
in a higher division if he or she is
experienced in the game. The decision to
move a player into higher division will be
made by the junior Golf Committee. |

An adult walker is needed for each 3 and 6
Hold group. We are asking that every parent
volunteer to walk at least two rounds over
the course of the season. |

|
The Tyrone Hills Junior Golf Program was
created thirty years ago with the intention
of giving Juniors a quality introduction to
the game of golf. That remains our goal
today. We consider sportsmanship and
improvement to be the most important facets
of the program. Our top priority is that all
of our Junior Golfers have fun while they
are learning the game. Although score and
skill level are secondary to our program,
over the years there have been many juniors
who first learned the game at Tyrone Hills,
and then worked hard enough to eventually
make their high school golf team. Some of
our Junior Golf Alumni have even gone on to
play golf at the college level. We feel
confident that ALL Juniors who participate,
and are eager to give their best , will
learn a game that they can enjoy for a life
time. |
