Dear Parents and Junior Golfers,
We welcome you to participate in the 32nd season of the Tyrone Hills Junior Golf program! The first day of league play is Thursday, July 1st. Juniors will continue play on Thursday mornings until the final day of league play - Tournament Day - Thursday, July 29th.
Over the years, our junior golf program has become a fun and rewarding experience for hundreds of area juniors. Last year alone we had over 300 juniors participate. For many youngsters, the program is their introduction to the game, and we encourage that. Golf experience is not necessary to enter the program.
We will be offering a series of clinics in the weeks leading up to league play. All beginners should participate in at least two clinics - a short game (chipping and putting), and a full swing clinic. We also encourage experienced golfers to participate in clinics. They offer a good chance to get both valuable instruction and practice. The clinic schedule and cost are inside.
Based primarily on age, juniors will be divided into divisions. The 3-Hole Division is recommended for juniors 8-10 years old. The 6-Hole Division is for those 11-13 years old, and the 9-Hole Division is for juniors 13 and older. A junior may request to participate in a higher division if he or she is experienced in the game. The decision to move a player into a higher division will be made by the Junior Golf Committee.
We will also have an 18-Hole Division for juniors 13 and older who wish to play each week in a more competitive environment. Only golfers with experience in the game are encouraged to play in the 18-Hole Division. The pairings in this division will be made each week by the Junior Golf Committee. The other divisions will still allow for the juniors to make their own pairings whenever possible. The winners of the boys and girls 18-Hole Division on Tournament Day will be named the 2010 Tyrone Hills Junior Club Champions.
As always, we rely heavily on parent and guardian volunteers to keep our program as fun and rewarding as possible for the juniors. An adult walker is needed for each 3 and 6 Hole group that plays. We ask that every parent volunteer to walk at least two rounds over the course of the season. Any parents or guardians that wish to help out in any other ways may contact the golf shop at any time. We’ll have no problem putting you to work helping out the golfers!
We feel that all juniors who participate in our program will have fun and improve their golf game at the same time. Our goal is to teach our junior golfers sportsmanship and help them gain confidence through meeting new friends and improving their skills. If our juniors are willing to listen and give their best, we are confident that they will learn a game that they can enjoy for a lifetime.
The details for the 2010 Program and a registration form are inside. Can’t wait to see you this summer on the Course!
